China Trip (Guangzhou, Zhongshan, and Dongguan)

Accompanying my partner to his hometown,
we visited Guangzhou, Zhongshan and Dongguan in China
As this trip was to visit his friends and family members,
we focused more on food rather than attractions
Let’s have a look at what we had! 😉
陪着我男友回家乡，
我们去了中国的广州，中山和东莞
由于这次旅程主要是为了探望他的亲戚朋友，
比起景点，我们更关注于食物

I will just list out the places or food with some descriptions
Apologies if there are some places that I could not name them
because we were brought by friends
and not all the shops have a shop sign

非常抱歉如果有我没办法列出名字的地方
因为是朋友带我们去的
而且不是每个店面都有招牌
Xintang Wanda Plaza 新塘万达广场
We went to this plaza for dinner
after arriving at Guangzhou
It was a new shopping complex
located in Zengcheng
We had Changsha street food
at Laochangsha Eatery on level 4
and I recommend its bean curd
as well as the sausage
到了广州后
我们去了这个广场吃晚餐
它是个新的购物广场
位于增城区
我们在四楼老长沙吃货铺
吃了长沙小吃
我推荐它的臭豆腐和香肠

Steamed Rice Noodle Roll 肠粉
It is a type of Cantonese dish
also known as "Cheong Fun"
Different places cook this dish in different ways
It was actually my first time
tasting the one steamed with
egg and minced meat
and seasoned with soy sauce
The common one is usually found
in Dimsum restaurants
either with the fillings of
BBQ pork, shrimps, or beef
I have also tried the one
seasoned with sweet sauce or curry sauce
and may be served with some ingredients
like sausages, fishballs and sesame seeds
However, this type is different
the taste was still good though
and the texture was really smooth
We had it at the shop located near
Dadun Market in Xintang
它是一种广东美食
广东话叫"Cheong Fun"
不同的地方会以不同的方式烹煮
这其实是我第一次
尝试到这种
加了鸡蛋和肉碎一起蒸
然后配酱油的肠粉
一般普遍的都是
在点心店看到的那种
配料有
叉烧，虾仁或牛肉的
我也尝试过那种
甜酱或咖喱酱的
然后可能会有一些配料
好像香肠，鱼圆和芝麻
但是，这种是不一样的
味道还是很好的
而且口感很顺滑
我们是在新塘镇里
大墩市场附近的一家店吃的
How the chef prepares the steamed noodle roll
the shop was pretty busy in the morning
we visited twice during our trip
厨师准备肠粉的过程
这家店在早上的时候挺忙的
我们在这次旅途去了两次
Dadun Market 大敦综合市场
We went to the Dadun Market
with my partner's grandmother
It was cool to see how the Chinese
sell things in the market
The most interesting part was
the payment method
Wechat pay or Alipay was available
at almost every single stall
including the little cart
where an old lady pushed
to sell the homemade pancake
There is no need for cash or credit card
you just need to bring a phone with you
and scan the QR code to make payment
I found this very convenient
at the shopping mall carpark too
because we always need to find a machine or counter
and walk to it to make a parking payment
at other places
but in China,
there are QR code everywhere
on the wall at the carpark
so you can just make a payment next to your car
and head to the exit directly
What really surprised me was that
we were at a suburb area
especially most of the residences
were senior people
and this technology was still available

可以看中国人怎么在市场卖东西
对我来说是挺新奇的
最有趣的部分是
付款的方式
几乎在每一个档口
都可以用微信支付或支付宝
包括一个老奶奶
自己推车卖饼的摊位
也都能用这两个付款方式
不需要用到现金或信用卡
你只需要带着手机
然后扫描QR码就能付款
我发现这个对
支付购物中心的停车费来说很方便
因为我们一般在其他地方
都要先找找付款机器或柜台在哪
然后再走向那里付停车费
但是在中国，
QR码在停车场的墙壁
到处都是
所以你可以在车子旁边付款
然后直接到出口去
真正让我吃惊的是
我们当时是在郊区
尤其是当地的居民
大部分都是年长人士
然而在那里依然有这样的科技

Charcoal Grill 炭炉烤
We had the food grilled with charcoal
in Zhongshan
There are basically two types
either grilling like normal BBQ
or grilling with a wok
where food has been cooked

There were more food we ordered for BBQ
but I thought it was normal
so I did not take more pictures

I was unable to find the restaurant online 😓
but I know there are many different restaurants

Just not too sure if the food is nice or not

Fu Ji Grilled Oyster 富记烤生蚝
If a shop only sells a specific type of food
then you know it specialises in that area
which also means
the food definitely tastes good
otherwise, it can't survive
Obviously from the name
you can tell this shop sells oyster
there are three flavours to choose from
including original, garlic, and spicy garlic
A must try if you visit Zengcheng in Guangzhou
如果一家店只卖一种特定的食物
你就会知道它在那领域是专业的
也代表了
食物肯定很好吃
不然，它是没办法生存的

你可以很清楚地知道这家店卖的是生蚝

This shop allows you to choose
varieties of ingredients for your claypot rice
Double boiling soups are also available there
It is really busy during lunch time
waiting time was more than 30 minutes for us

Jiangnan Fishing Village 江南渔村
Another place where I couldn't locate on the mapbut at least I got you the name of the shop
It is a seafood restaurant
where you may buy fresh live seafood
and get for the chef to cook for you
另一个我没办法在地图上找到的地方
但至少我把店名给了你
它是家海鲜餐厅
可以买了新鲜活海鲜
再让厨师为你烹煮
Food was so much that
we could not put all on the table in one go
食物多到我们根本没办法
一次过把全部都放在桌上
This is just the price for the chef to cook
excluding the price of the seafood
这只是厨师煮的费用
不包括海鲜的价格
The first time we had BBQ pork with sugar
it was surprisingly delicious
and the pork was cut into thin slices
which improves the mouthfeel
这是我们第一次配着糖吃叉烧烧肉
还真是意外的好吃
而且肉片都被切得薄薄的
让口感变得更好了
Tianhe Fashion 时尚天河
It is a shopping area in Guangzhou CBD
we went there by subway from Xintang
The route was:
Xintang➠🚇Lane 13➠Yuzhu
Yuzhu➠🚇Lane 5➠Yangji
Yangji➠🚇Lane 1➠Tiyu Xilu
It was a long way
but the subway comes frequently
in about every 5 minutes
Of course
when you are closer to the city area
the subway will be more packed

which is available for Yamcha, lunch, dinner and supper
It sells different kinds of food
from poultry to seafood
from stir-fried to steamed
from appetizer to dessert
It is a large restaurant
with the capacity of about 10 people per table

Here's the basic translation for this menu
Beef offal for 3 yuan per skewer

Dessert soup for 5 or 6 yuan per bowl

This shop is on the same street in Dongguan
as the above shop
It is known for its fresh ice lemon tea
they will only make it upon order
You can taste the pulp
which goes well with the tea

and is only operated by the uncle himself
but there were a lot of consistent customers
visiting his shop

is one of the common dishes
in Asian countries
Unfortunately,
we did not have the pictures for the soup

Price is about 4 to 6 yuan per bowl

which is commonly found in
