Canberra Trip (Floriade & Canola Fields)

Since I was quite busy with my new career
and due to Covid-19 pandemic
there were not many chances to go anywhere
The Labour Day Long Weekend falls on spring
and Floriade was on
Luckily the border between NSW and ACT was not shut
so we decided to get away to Canberra
由于在新事业中繁忙
也因为肺炎的关系
一直都没什么机会出游去
劳动节的长周末落在春天
刚好也是鲜花节期间
幸好新南威尔士与澳洲首都领地的边境依然是开放的
我们便决定前往堪贝拉游玩去啦！

There are some purple fields on the way too
We got quite a few suggestions
to have a look at the beautiful canola fields
which are near to Canberra
so we did some research online
and decided to take the route without tolls
in order to go pass all the little suburbs
There are many websites suggesting Cowra
and I noticed a website mentioned about Canola Trail
so the route below was planned

让我们到堪贝拉附近
去看看美丽的油菜花
所以我们在网上查询了一下
决定选择没高速公路的途径
那就可以经过一些小镇
有许多网站都建议到Cowra去
而我也在其中一个网站看见
有提到关于Canola Trail (油菜花小径）的信息
因此便安排了以下的路程
We set the destination at Canola Trail on Google Maps
and chose the route without tolls
so we could go Cowra on the way too
However,
after our experience
we do not recommend people to go to Temora
which was the location Google Maps brought us to
for the Canola Trail
It was actually a Tourist Information Centre
and there was no Canola Field nearby
We only saw some before arriving Cowra
and some at Young

然后选择没有高速公路的途径
所以路上也可以经过Cowra
但是，
经历这一次旅程后
我们并不建议大家到Temora去
也就是谷歌地图带我们去Canola Trail的小镇
那里其实是一个游客中心
而且附近也没有油菜花
我们是在抵达Cowra前的路上看见一些的
还有一些在Young那里
Couldn't get a nicer picture
as we only had phones with us instead of good cameras
and it was quite far away
I am not sure what kind of plant is that

路上也有一些紫色的花
没办法拍到好看一些的照片
因为我们是用手机拍的
而且距离有点远
我不是很清楚这个花是什么

Please be aware that most of the fields are privately owned
and not all farmers are happy for people to enter
or taking pictures
We were lucky enough to find a field with open door
and there were no other tourists
which means we could take time
to take as many pictures as we want 😄😄
By the way
many of the fields are just by the roadside
so please please please
take extra caution when you are pulling over
请注意大部分的田地都是私营的
而且并不是所有农夫都欢迎大家进入
或拍照的哦
我们是很幸运地找到了一个开着门的田地
也没有其他旅客
也就是说我们可以好好花时间
把想拍的拍到够 😄😄
When we arrived at Temora according to the route
the sky has turned dark
We had our dinner at The Temora Hotel
They have a nice bar
it is a good place to drink with friends
当我们沿着路来到Temora的时候
天色已晚
我们在The Temora Hotel享用了晚餐
他们有相当不错的酒吧
是个适合与朋友喝两杯的地方
Prawn, Chorizo and Chicken Risotto
The risotto rice was kind of different
from other risotto that we have tried before
not sure if they do it on purpose
but it was special
虾仁，香肠和鸡肉烩饭
这烩饭的米饭和以往
我们所尝试过的稍微不同
不是很确定他们就是这样做的吗
但确实挺特别的
Pulled Pork Burger
This was the special menu of the night
The pulled pork was great
recommend to try it when it's on

After dinner,
we continued 2 and a half hours drive
to check in to Quest Canberra City Walk
The reception of the hotel isn't 24-hr
so we were given a code
in order to check in with the key box
The check-in process was pretty easy
and the room was comfortable
It is a nice serviced apartment
and it is at a very convenient location
the only con was the parking space
they have very limited parking spaces
in which we had to park at a nearby shopping centre
apart from bringing the luggage around
there was not a big problem
The parking fee is pretty cheap
for Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holiday
it only costs $2/ day at a flat rate
晚餐后，
我们继续2小时半的车程
这酒店的前台并非24小时的
所以工作人员提前发了一个密码给我们
好让我们从钥匙箱提取房卡
入住手续非常简单
房间也挺舒适的
它是一间公寓式酒店
位于非常方便的地点
唯一的缺点就是停车场
他们的停车位非常有限
因此我们必须停在附近的商场
除了必须带着行李箱到处走之外
其他的不是什么大问题
停车费挺便宜的
周六，周日和公共假日的费用
只需每日$2的平价

we booked a studio room
but the room was still pretty spacious
there were many cooking utensils available too

但房间还是蛮宽敞的
也提供了很多厨房用具
On the second day,
I was searching on the internet
for a good cafe to have breakfast
The reviews of The Cupping Room seems pretty good
and it is not too far from our hotel
so we decided to have our brekkie there
Most of the shops that we walked pass were closed
wasn't sure if it was because of the long weekend
or they just don't usually open on weekends
BUT
it was so crowded at The Cupping Room
It took us 1-hour wait to get a table
one of the reasons was because of the pandemic restrictions
there were limited seats in the cafe
but the waiting line was still long
even though many people have changed to take away
我在第二天的时候
上网找了一家适合吃早餐的咖啡店
The Cupping Room 的评论看似不错
而且距离我们酒店也不远
所以我们决定到那里享用早餐
我们路过的大部分店面都是关的
不是很确定是因为长周末的关系
还是他们一般都不在周末开业
但是
The Cupping Room那里则是人山人海
当时花了我们1小时的时间才等到的座位
其中一个原因是因为受到疫情限制
咖啡店的座位有限
但是即使许多人都改成了外带
等待座位的队伍还是挺长的

After breakfast
we started our trip to look for Floriade flowers
the website said there were some at the City Hill
so we went there to find out
and we only saw some rabbits there instead of flowers
Then,
we headed off to the Commonwealth Park
was thinking to take the public transport there
but we did not have the ticket/card
so we ended up driving there
It is a nice big park
with beautiful water views
The Floriade was probably not as good as the previous years
due to the pandemic
but it was good that Floriade was still on
早餐后
我们便开始寻找鲜花节的花
网上说在City Hill可以看到一些
所以我们先到那里看看
但是只看到了一些兔子而不是花朵
然后
我们就出发到Commonwealth Park去
原本是想搭公共交通去的
但由于我们没有票
所以最后是开车去的
那里是一个有漂亮水景的大公园
这次的鲜花节因为疫情关系
也许没有往年的好
但至少鲜花节还是继续进行了
City Hall
Since there is a lake at Commonwealth Park
you may hire a paddle boat to enjoy the view
but it was fully booked when we were there
因为Commonwealth Park那里有湖泊
你也可以租个踏板船欣赏美景
但我们去的时候已经订满了
Saw others' pictures from previous years with the ferris wheel
but it was not there this year
and this was the only suitable Instagram spot
往年都看见大家跟摩天轮的合照
今年却没有摩天轮
这是唯一比较适合打卡的地方

The last two pictures were taken at Margaret Timpson Park
was thinking to see more places
so we drove there to pay a visit
and the Owl Sculpture was on the way
It is apparently a Canberra icon?

想着要去多一些地方看看
就开车去了那里
在路上有经过猫头鹰雕像
据说是堪贝拉的标志？

We then went to the Australian War Memorial
Many people suggested us to pay a visit there
so we tried to book for a ticket online before arrival
The entry is free
the ticket is just to ensure enough capacity
Again, there were very limited spots due to the pandemic
We secured ourselves one of the sections
which was the Last Post Ceremony
and a funny incident happened
we found out the date we booked
was actually for the coming week
only when the tickets were failed to be scanned 😂
Luckily we were still allowed to get in
as there were some no shows
We were told by the staff that
the museum was actually closed
and only the ceremony was on
so that was the only thing we got to participate
我们接着到澳洲战争纪念馆去
许多人在之前就建议我们到那里去参观
所以我们提前在网上订了票
入场是免费的
入门票只是为了确定有足够的位子
然后一样的，位子因为疫情的关系都非常有限
我们保全了其中一个项目的票
也就是纪念军人的仪式
然后发生了一个笑话
我们在工作人员扫描入门票失败以后
才发现原来我们所订的票是下一个礼拜的😂
还好我们依然有机会入场
因为还是有订了票没出现的人
工作人员告诉我们说
博物馆是没有开的
只有仪式在进行着
所以那也是我们唯一能参与的项目
When the ceremony finished
it has come to the time for dinner
We had been trying to book for a good restaurant
but they were either all fully booked
or no suitable time
While we walked around to look for where to have dinner
we came to one of the restaurants where we wanted to try
Since we were there
we took the chance to try for the possibility of walk-in
and you know what?
we succeed!!
Walk-in was available as long as we finished by the next booking time
This restaurant is so cool and modern
with a nice bar that serves many delicious cocktails
We tried their Feed Me for $49 per person
with 8 of their most popular dishes
仪式结束后
便来到吃晚餐的时间
我们尝试预定餐厅位子
但是所有好餐厅不是都被订满了
就是没有合适的时间
当我们还在到处走走找地方吃晚餐的时候
竟然来到了其中一家我们原本就想吃的餐厅
既然我们都在这里了
就把握机会再次尝试问有没有位
然后你知道结果是什么吗？
我们成功了！
只要在下一个预订时间前吃完就没问题
这是一家时尚又酷的餐厅
还有个很棒的酒吧，有很多好喝的鸡尾酒
我们尝试了菜单里的Feed Me，每人$49
包含8份他们店里最畅销的菜
Lychee Rose Martini
this was so good
a perfect drink for girls
the creamy stuff on top will surprise you
it's lychee flavour with popping candy!
荔枝玫瑰马提尼酒
这真的很好喝
完全就是给女孩们调配的
那个白色奶霜类的东西会给你惊喜
它是荔枝味的而且还有跳跳糖在里面！
Ok, I feel sorry that I can't remember which drink is this
好吧，我很抱歉我忘了这是哪个饮料
kingfish, coconut, nam jim, coriander
prawn & chicken dumplings, ginger & black vinegar dressing
king prawn fried rice, snake beans, chilli fried egg
charred chinese broccoli, oyster sauce, lemon
pork belly bun, char sui, asian slaw, pickles
kimchi & oyster pancake, kewpie mayo, sriracha, itogaki
miso dengaku eggplant, pepita seeds, puffed rice, nori
It doesn't look pretty
but it tastes good!
Recommend to try!

There is an interesting activity to do in Canberra city
Hiring Electric Scooter
There is only bicycle hire available in most of the cities
but it is an E-scooter in Canberra
We saw many people riding scooters around
but didn't think of wasting money on that
However,
there was nothing to do at night time
but riding scooter
we checked the price and it was acceptable
The street was quieter at night time
so it was safer to ride as well
The scooter can automatic detect your location
and tell you the speed limit
Give it a try when you visit Canberra
在堪贝拉城市有一个有趣的活动
就是电动滑板车
在大部分的城市可以租借自行车
但是在堪贝拉看到的是电动滑板车
我们看见很多人在骑滑板车的时候
并没有想花费在它上面
但是
晚上除了骑滑板车
确实没什么可以做的
我们便查了查租借的价格也算合理的
而且夜晚的路比较安静
骑车也比较安全
那个滑板车会自动检测你的所在位置
然后告诉你可行驶的速度
有机会到堪贝拉的时候尝试一下吧

We had our breakfast at Via Dolce
the last morning at Canberra
It is an Italian cafe
seemed very popular every time we walked pass
but when we dined there
we thought it was a bit too busy
in which the service could not handle that big volume of customers
It took a long time for food to arrive
Many of the surrounding customers got their orders wrong
在堪贝拉最后一天的早晨
我们在Via Dolce享用早餐
它是一家意大利咖啡店
每次我们经过的时候都感觉它很受欢迎
但是当我们在那里吃的时候
感觉有点忙过了头
导致服务没办法应付大量的客人
要好长一段时间食物才会上桌
周围也有好多的客人餐点都送错了
There is a little room for dine-in

看起来像间玻璃屋

里面并不怎么好
Outdoor seatings were better

We did some shopping at Canberra Centre after breakfast
then we finished our Canberra Trip
and headed back to Sydney
On the way,
there was another hot spot
where many people stopped for the canola field
We didn't take note where exactly the location was
but it was not far away from Canberra
and it is on the route with tolls to Sydney

Canberra is not a busy city
but the flowers have added lots of colours
