Brunei Trip - Day 2

Since East Malaysia was in my planned trip

and if you read the home page of this blog

you will know that I always wish to

travel as many countries as I could

I have added Brunei into the trip

由于东马已被安排在我的旅程里

还有如果你读了这部落格的主页

你就会知道我一直都希望

可以到很多国家去旅行

所以我把文莱也加入这次旅程了

Before starting to write the blog for this day

I would like to provide an interesting fact about Brunei first

Do you know that every Friday

all the shops in Brunei must close

between 12pm and 2pm?

This is because the government

wants to encourage people to go to pray

I am writing this here as 15^th of March was a Friday

在写这篇部落格之前

我想先提供一个关于文莱的有趣资讯

你知道吗？

在文莱，所有的店必须

在每个星期五的中午12点和下午2点之间关闭

这是因为政府

要鼓励大家去祷告

我把这个写在这里是因为3月15号是星期五

In the morning,

we were brought to a local shop

Chop Jing Chew

to have breakfast

The food offered on the menu

is very similar to what you can find

from Malaysian or Singaporean coffee shops

but this shop is famous for the

Roti Kuning Kahwin

The name translated in English is

Married Yellow Bun

but the "Marriage" just means

the combination of kaya and butter

Kaya is a pandan coconut jam

with sweet taste

Having it with the bun

is truly a treat

Simple breakfast

but people love it

早晨的时候，

我们被带到一家当地的店

瀛洲号

去吃早餐

菜单上的食物与可以在

马来西亚或新加坡咖啡店找到的食物

非常相似

但是这家店是以它的

Roti Kuning Kahwin出名的

这名字翻译成中文是

已婚的黄面包 (鸳鸯黄烘包)

但是“已婚”指的是

咖椰和奶油的组合

咖椰是甜味的

一种斑斓椰子果酱

与面包一起吃

绝对是一种享受

这是简单的早餐

但大家都爱

 The food we had -
Roti Kuning Kahwin
Roti Kuning Cucur (Yellow bun with egg)
Roti Putih Kahwin (White toast with kaya and butter)
Telur Separuh Masak (Half boiled egg)
Teh Tarik (Pulled milk tea)
我们吃的食物 -
鸳鸯黄烘包

鸳鸯白面包 (白面包与咖椰和奶油)
半生熟蛋

Teh Tarik India came with more condensed milk

so it tasted sweeter

印度拉茶有较多的炼乳

所以味道较甜

The shop also sells other pastries

店家也有卖其他糕点

After having breakfast

we visited the Royal Regalia Museum

This museum mainly houses

the regalia of the Sultan and the royalty

so you may get a glimpse into the life of the Sultan

The museum also exhibits the souvenirs or gifts

from other countries to Brunei

我们参观了皇家礼仪博物馆

这家博物馆主要收藏

苏丹和皇室的王权

所以你可以看一眼苏丹的生活

这博物馆也有展示

各国送给文莱的纪念品或礼物

Later on,

we went to a shopping mall

called The Mall Gadong to walk around

and we found a shop

- Say Chiizu

selling Japanese cheese toast

The videos attracted me

as you can get a very long cheese pull

from the bread

and I love cheese

so we bought one to try

接着，

我们去了一个名叫

The Mall Gadong的购物商场走了走

然后我们找到了一间

卖日式芝士土司的店

-Say Chiizu

它的影片吸引了我

因为你可以从面包那里

拉出好长好长的芝士

而且我很喜欢芝士

所以我们买了一个试试

Many shops have actually started closing down

before 12pm while we were still at the shopping mall

so it will be quite inconvenient

if you plan to visit Brunei on Friday

很多店在中午12点以前

当我们还在商场里的时候就已经开始关门了

所以如果你想在星期五

到文莱去旅游其实是挺不方便的

The local uncle brought us to his friends’ place

and they cooked us a nice lunch

They usually operate the restaurant

to sell the food too

but it was closed due to the reason mentioned above

However, they are non-muslims

so they did not need to go to the mosque

(if you are questioning)
那个当地的叔叔带我们到他朋友家
他们为我们煮了好吃的午餐
他们一般也经营餐厅
卖吃的
但由于上面所说的因素需关门
然而，他们是非穆斯林
所以他们不用到回教堂去
(如果你正疑惑着)

After filling up our stomach

we went to have a look at the outdoor of

Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque

It was quiet on the road

because people were all in the mosque

and yet the mosque was packed with cars outside
填饱我们的肚子后
我们便到杰米清真寺

去看看它的室外
当时的街道很安静
因为大家都在回教堂里
但回教堂外都是满满的车

We also stopped over at Istana Nurul Iman

Palace of the Sultan

We were unable to see the whole building

but I found a picture from the internet

as shown below

我们中途也在努洛伊曼皇宫停了一下

当时无法看到整体建筑
但是我在网络
找到了以下的图片

In the afternoon when the shops opened again

we went to the best hotel in Brunei

- The Empire Hotel & Country Club

It is a nice attraction to visit

even if you are not staying there

After visiting the hotel

I would actually like to plan a trip to stay in that hotel

when I return to Brunei next time

The swimming pool there is so huge

and looks so relaxing

facing to the ocean as well

However,

the hotel is quite far away from the city

so this is the one con about this hotel
下午当店面又开门的时候
我们去了文莱最好的酒店
文莱帝国酒店
即使你不住在那里
它也是个很不错的旅游景点

在参观这个酒店后
我其实很希望在下次回到文莱的时候
可以计划住在这个酒店
那里的游泳池好大
而且有一种能令人放松的魔力
还是面对着大海的
然而，
这个酒店离城市有一段距离
所以这是它的一个缺点

We had the afternoon tea at the hotel

before moving forward to the next destination

The food was above average

and the price was relatively cheap

Although they do not serve alcohol drink

you may refill the food without extra charge

我们在前往下一个目的地前
在这酒店喝了下午茶
食物算是中上
价格相对来说是便宜的
虽然他们没有酒类
但你可以免费再添食物

Our next destination was Jerudong Park Playground

It is an amusement park close to the Empire Hotel
We travelled there by taxi organised through the hotel
The driver was the hotel staff
so we seriously have never seen the public transport in Brunei
Anyway,

the park was not as busy as

other theme parks in big cities

but it also means that
we did not need to wait in long queues for the rides

We did not know the park was actually

kind of separated into two parts

one part with rides more suitable for kids

and the other for adults

There was also a water park which

allowed for entry after 8pm

but we did not go because

we did not prepare any clothes to get change

A bad comment about the park was that

the rides were closed in about every 2 hours

for 15 to 30 mins

because the staffs need to pray

We totally respect others’ religion

but there was literally nothing for us to do

during those times

There was even once that

we got asked to finish the game halfway

because of this

Just thought the park might need to

manage this in a better way

At least let the visitors know before entering...
我们的下一个景点是水晶公园

它是个靠近帝国酒店的游乐园
我们是乘坐酒店安排的计程车去那里的
司机是酒店的员工
所以我们真的没见过文莱的公共交通
话说回来，
这乐园并没有像
其他大城市里的乐园一样人山人海
所以这也说明了
我们不需要排长龙等待玩游乐设施
我们当时并不知道
原来那游乐园是分成两个部分的
一个部分的游乐设施是适合小孩玩的
另一个部分的则是适于成人的
那里也有个水上乐园
在晚上8点以后可以进入
但我们没去
因为我们没有准备可以换洗的衣服
有个不好的评语想给予这乐园
那里的游乐设施差不多在每2小时
都会关闭15到30分钟
因为员工需要祷告
我们完全尊重他人的宗教
但我们却实在那段时间
没有东西可以做
更有一次是在我们玩到一半时
工作人员因为这个原因要求我们离开
就觉得这乐园的管理层
必须以更好的方式去处理这件事
至少让游客在进入前知道吧...
