It's not often that our whole family gets to gather together
It's been 5 years since I last saw my second sister
This post captures our 2024 Christmas trip
to Tokyo, Japan, as a family of eight 🥰
好不容易又有一家人聚在一起的时间，

23 DEC: A Leap from the Tropics to Winter
12月23日：从热带到冬季的飞跃
We flew with China Southern Airlines,
departing from Singapore in the morning,
with a brief layover in Guangzhou,
and arrived safely at Tokyo Haneda Airport at night.
Upon landing,
we picked up Suica cards at the airport,
which can be used for Tokyo's public transportation.
They’re also accepted at convenience stores,
vending machines, and shops marked with "IC."
You can easily purchase and recharge them
at machines located behind the information counter after customs.
The red version is specifically for tourists
and does not require a deposit,
but be mindful that the expiration date
is listed on the receipt, not on the card itself.

早上从新加坡出发，
在广州短暂转机后，
晚上顺利抵达东京羽田机场。
一下飞机，
我们在机场领取了西瓜卡（Suica卡），
用于东京的公共交通
（也可以在便利店或
一些有标示“IC"的商店和贩卖机使用）
出关后在咨询柜台后的机器可以轻松充值领取。
红色的是游客专用的，
不收取定金，
但是要注意有效日期是写在单据里，
而不是西瓜卡后面的日期为准。

We then took the train to Hotel Mystays Premier Omori,
enjoying the serene and orderly cityscape along the way.
After checking in and taking a short rest,
we explored the nearby area,
indulging in local eats and sights
—a delightful way to kick off our trip!

办理入住后，
我们稍作休息，
便到周围吃吃逛逛，
This is what one of our rooms looks like.
We booked a total of 3 rooms for 8 people.
The larger room has a bed like this, facing the city view,
while the smaller room on the other side has a standard hotel bed.
这就是我们其中一间房间的样子。
我们总共为8人预订了3间房间。
较大的房间配有这样的床，面向城市景观，
而另一边较小的房间则是普通的酒店床。
24 DEC: Exploring Hakone, A First Encounter with Mount Fuji
12月24日：悠游箱根，初遇富士山

After enjoying a hearty Japanese-style breakfast
at the hotel in the morning,
we set off for the Hakone onsen ryokan.
Along the way,
we transferred to a bus at Odawara and had lunch there.
The bus climbed the slopes,
eventually reaching Hotel Green Plaza Hakone onsen ryokan,
a place that felt like a hidden paradise.
The ryokan is built along the mountainside,
and the best part is that the room balcony
offers a direct view of Mount Fuji,
resembling a picturesque painting.
In the afternoon,
we changed into traditional yukatas
and headed to the bathhouse for an onsen soak.
The onsen offers both indoor and outdoor baths,
where the steamy warmth melted away all our fatigue.
Dinner was a sumptuous buffet
featuring everything from fresh sushi and sashimi
to various Japanese dishes.

早上在酒店享用了一顿丰盛的日式早餐后，
我们启程前往箱根温泉旅馆。
途中在小田原转巴士，
在那里吃了午餐。
巴士一路上山坡，
最终抵达箱根Hotel Green Plaza温泉旅馆，
仿佛进入了一个世外桃源。
旅馆依山而建，
最棒的是房间阳台可以直面富士山，
就像一幅风景画。
下午，我们换上日式浴衣，
去澡堂泡温泉。
温泉有室内和室外的，
在温泉中感受热气蒸腾的惬意，
疲惫一扫而空。
晚餐则是丰富的自助餐，
从新鲜的寿司刺身到各类日式料理，

25 DEC: A Perfect Encounter with the Sunrise and Mount Fuji
12月25日：日出与富士山的完美邂逅
On the third morning,
we drew back the curtains
to see the crisp outline of Mount Fuji,
unobstructed by clouds or mist.
In the tranquil moments before sunrise,
we hurried to the onsen bathhouse for another soak,
relishing the breathtaking view of Mount Fuji.
Upon returning to our room,
we were greeted with the sight of Mount Fuji
bathed in golden light as the morning sun rose
—a scene reminiscent of the famed "Golden Mountain at Sunrise,"
leaving us in awe.
This stunning moment was not only a must-capture shot
but also one of the most beautiful memories of our trip.
第三天一早，
拉开窗帘看到富士山清晰的轮廓，
没有云雾遮挡。
趁着日出前的静谧时刻，
我们赶紧前往温泉澡堂再一次泡汤，
享受这绝美的富士山景致。
回到房间后，
正好赶上富士山在晨光中披上一层金色，
宛如“日照金山”的景象，
令人赞叹不已。
这一幕不仅是相机必拍的画面，
也是旅程中最美的记忆之一。

Before checking out,
we returned to the restaurant
for another hearty buffet breakfast,
fueling up for the day's adventures.
We took a shuttle bus from the ryokan
to the Ubako ropeway station
and then a cable car to Owakudani,
a geothermal area famous for its hot spring scenery.
Owakudani’s specialty,
the "black eggs,"
draws countless visitors.
Legend has it that eating one egg
can extend your life by seven years!
On this clear day,
we could not only see Mount Fuji from Owakudani
but also observe the volcanic steam rising from the valley
—a rare and mesmerizing sight.
Capturing an unobstructed view of Mount Fuji
made this journey feel exceptionally worthwhile.
在退房前，
我们再次回到餐厅享用丰盛的自助早餐，
为一天的旅程储备能量。
从旅馆搭乘小巴前往姥子駅缆车站，
再乘缆车抵达了以温泉景观闻名的大涌谷。
这里的特色“黑蛋”吸引了无数游客，
据说每吃一颗可以增加七年的寿命！
天气晴朗时，
从大涌谷不仅可以远眺富士山，
还能清晰地看到山谷中
冒着白烟的火山地热活动。
这次能幸运地捕捉到
没有云雾遮挡的富士山美景，
觉得这趟旅程特别值得。

At midday,
we stopped at Odawara Station
to enjoy a local specialty lunch before heading back to Tokyo
and checking in at the familiar Hotel Mystays Premier Omori.
Since it was Christmas Day,
we had planned an evening
filled with night views and festive lights.
In the evening,
we first visited Roppongi
to admire the dazzling holiday illuminations.
On our way,
we caught the magical moment
when Tokyo Tower lit up at 5 PM,
adding a touch of romance to the Christmas night.
The crowds admiring the lights were overwhelming,
especially along Keyakizaka Dori Street,
where you can capture stunning photos
of Tokyo Tower framed by the festive lights.
The area was so packed
that even police officers were on-site to manage the crowds!

品尝了当地特色午餐后，
便返回东京入住熟悉的大森Mystays尊贵酒店。
因为是圣诞节，
我们安排了看夜景和灯饰的行程。
傍晚，我们先前往六本木
欣赏华丽的节日灯饰。
路途中，恰好赶上东京塔
在下午5点点亮的瞬间，
为圣诞夜增添一份浪漫。
看灯饰的人潮实在太多了，
特别是在Keyakizaka Dori街道上，
可以拍到东京塔与灯饰交相辉映的画面，
还有交警维持秩序呢！

At 7 PM, we headed to Shibuya Sky
for a panoramic view of Tokyo’s glittering nightscape.
The vibrant city lights in all their colours
were a testament to Tokyo’s energy and beauty.
After enjoying the night views,
we made our way to a popular ramen shop,
Ichiran Ramen, for dinner.
The queue at the first shop we found
was a daunting 70 minutes,
so we continued searching
and eventually lined up at another location
with a shorter wait time of 40 minutes.
Fortunately, the actual wait wasn’t as long as expected.
This late-night ramen feast
was the perfect end to our Christmas celebrations.

晚上7点，我们登上涉谷Sky，
俯瞰东京的璀璨夜景。
五光十色的都市灯火
让人感叹东京这座城市的活力与美丽。
欣赏完夜景后，
前往一家网红拉面店“一蘭拉面”解决晚餐。
第一家店排队时间长达70分钟，
于是我们继续寻找，
终于在第二家仅需40分钟的地方排队。
幸运的是，实际等待时间并没有那么久。

26 DEC: The Intersection of Tokyo Tower and a Fairy Tale World
12月26日：东京塔与童话世界的交汇
On the fourth morning,
we once again enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the hotel
before heading to Shiba Park
to admire Tokyo Tower in the morning.
第四天一早，
我们依然在酒店享用丰盛的自助早餐，
Bathed in the soft glow of dawn,
Tokyo Tower looked especially elegant
—a perfect moment to capture one of Tokyo’s iconic views.
在晨光下，
东京塔显得格外优雅，
是捕捉东京经典美景的绝佳时刻。
Afterward, we took the train from Shiba Park to Ueno.
From there, we strolled through a bustling marketplace
on our way to Asakusa.
For lunch, we chose a traditional sushi restaurant
(details can be found in the food guide section).
After a satisfying meal,
we explored the rich cultural experience
at Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa.
It was fun and simple to draw fortunes here,
with only ¥100.
之后我们从芝公园搭乘电车前往上野，
下车后走路穿过市集，
一路走到热闹的浅草。
中午，我们选了一家传统的寿司店享用午餐，

吃饱了就继续在浅草寺体验日本传统文化。
在那里求签只需¥100，
简单又有趣。

In the afternoon, we headed to Tokyo Disneyland.
We had purchased tickets on the official website
two months in advance,
opting for the 5 PM entry.
It’s highly recommended to download
the official Disneyland app to link your tickets
and easily check wait times
for attractions within the park.
When we arrived at Disneyland,
it was just in time for the sunset.
Standing at the entrance,
watching the golden hues of twilight
spread across the sky,
the scene felt truly magical
—like stepping into a fairy tale.
下午，我们前往东京迪士尼，
票是提前两个月在官网购买的，
选择了下午五点入园的票。
建议大家下载迪士尼官方App绑定门票，
方便查看园区内各设施的排队时间。
抵达迪士尼时，
刚好赶上落日时分。
在入口处，看着夕阳的余晖洒满天空，
整个场景宛如童话般梦幻。

Due to limited time,
we prioritized attractions with shorter wait times
to ensure we could experience as many as possible.
The attractions we went for include:
1. Pirates of the Caribbean
(A boat ride that takes you on an adventure through the dark)
2. The Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents
"Aloha E Komo Mai!"
(A singing show featuring animatronic characters)
3. Snow White's Adventures
(A mine cart ride through a dark forest)
4. Gadget's Go Coaster
(A roller coaster designed for kids, offering gentle thrills)
5. Haunted Mansion
(A spooky ride through an eerie Gothic mansion)
As the time for the parade approached,
we secured a spot by the roadside to watch.
With cheerful music and dazzling lights,
floats and beloved characters paraded by,
creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere.
因为时间有限，
我们优先选择排队时间较短的项目，
确保能多体验几个设施。
我们体验的项目包括：

坐在路边静静等待。

现场气氛欢快又温馨。

After the parade,
we grabbed some quick snacks, like burgers,
and squeezed in another attraction
before eagerly heading to the castle
for the highly anticipated fireworks show.
However, the fireworks display turned out to be very brief,
falling short of our expectations.
Compared to the grand and mesmerizing fireworks show
we had seen at Hong Kong Disneyland,
this one was somewhat underwhelming.
Later, we came across posts on social media
about the Rising for the Stars show at the castle,
which included a combination of a light show
and some fireworks elements.
We had opted not to watch this performance that evening,
but after seeing the videos,
we felt our decision was the right one.
游行结束后，
我们赶紧买了些汉堡垫肚子再刷个项目。
之后便兴冲冲地跑到城堡边
等待期待已久的烟花秀。
但是，烟花表演的时间非常短，
与我们对迪士尼的幻想有落差。
相比之下，
之前在香港迪士尼看到的烟花秀
更加盛大动人，
这次的体验只能说是略显遗憾。
后来我在社交媒体看见
网友发的Rising for the Stars表演是在城堡的灯光秀，
也会有一些烟火的元素。
我们当天选择了不去看这场表演，
但是看了影片后也觉得我们的选择是正确的。

27 DEC: The Journey's End and Cherished Memories
12月27日：旅程的尾声与满满的回忆
On the last day of our journey,
we packed our luggage
and had a quick breakfast
before heading to the airport.
Before leaving Japan,
we planned to use up
all the remaining balance on our Suica cards.
At the convenience stores in the airport,
the staff were incredibly thoughtful
—they could check the balance for you
and even let you top up the difference
to complete a purchase.
It was so convenient!
The gift shops at Tokyo Haneda Airport
offered a wide variety of items,
and we spent some time picking out souvenirs.
From exquisite sweets to beautifully packaged snacks,
everything was so tempting.
The attentive shop assistants carefully packed our purchases,
making the gifts perfect for sharing with friends
or enjoying ourselves.
If you're planning to shop at the airport,
remember to allow enough time,
as the extensive selection might
take longer to browse than you’d expect.
In the afternoon,
we boarded a China Southern Airlines flight
back to Singapore via Guangzhou.
However, during the layover,
we lost track of time
and almost missed our connecting flight!
It added a memorable twist to the end of our trip. 😅

吃了早餐就准备出发去机场啦。
在离开日本之前，
我们计划好将西瓜卡的余额全部用掉。
在机场的便利商店里，
店员非常贴心，
不仅可以帮你查询卡内余额，
还允许你补差价完成购买，
非常方便！
东京羽田机场的礼品店琳琅满目，
我们花了一些时间选购伴手礼。
各种精致的甜点、
包装精美的小食都非常吸引人。
店员们服务周到，
细心地为我们打包好，
让这些伴手礼无论是送人
还是自己享用都特别合适。
在机场购物时，
记得留出足够时间，
因为礼品店种类繁多，
可能会花费比想象更多的时间挑选。
下午，我们搭乘中国南方航空的航班，
经广州转机后返回新加坡。
在转机的时候没注意时间
还差点错过我们的航班呢！
为我们的旅途增添了一个特别的回忆 😅
